Sportscotland Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering Awards 2014
Cara is a Group Coach with Ravelrig RDA and spends every Saturday teaching, as well as caring for the horses and training/motivating other volunteers.
Cara has brought her riders to a standard that they are now competing in a number of regional competitions. She is a fantastic positive role model to her riders, peers and other volunteers at Ravelrig, getting the best from everyone and able to provide ongoing training and support to other volunteers. Cara treats all volunteers riders and their families with dignity and respect and coaches them to their full potential.
In winning this award she was considered for a Sport UK Award and enjoyed an inspiring and encouraging dinner in the Glasgow City Chambers with HRH Princess Royal.
Christopher Jannetta joined Ravelrig as a rider when he was about nine years old. He became a very competent rider and was successful when representing the Group at Regional Dressage competitions. Chris had good personal and social skills and as his riding was of a high standard, the natural progression was for him to become a volunteer.
He continued as a rider alongside volunteering until he felt comfortable to give up his riding placement. He settled easily and quickly and very soon became an important part of the volunteering team.
His achievements were recognised when he won the Regional Volunteer of the Year award in 2014, followed by being honored with the award of RDA Volunteer of the Year and was presented with his trophy by HRH The Princess Royal.
