How can you fundraise?

Help with one of our fundraising events

We run our own fundraising events throughout the year from book sales, restaurant nights, dog shows and open days.  These take a lot of preparation and organising and we are always looking for people to help out in any way they can, so if you want to help at any of the upcoming events listed then please let us know.

It is also possible to raise much needed funds for Ravelrig without leaving your armchair, check out some of the other options below.

Join in an organised event

There are lots of organised events that you can do on behalf of your chosen charity.  Running, walking, jumping out of planes, what ever takes your fancy.  There are lots of opportunities out there that will not only benefit you, but also Ravelrig.

Some ideas… The KiltWalk, The Edinburgh Marathon

Earn money for Ravelrig when shopping on line…

Visit to sign up and choose ‘Ravelrig RDA’ as your cause to support.  Then, whenever you want to shop online, go through the easyfundraising site and check for the retailer you want to use.  If that retailer is registered, they will donate a small percentage of your purchase price to Ravelrig.  So that new top for yourself can earn money for Ravelrig – it’s really that easy!

Visit Give as you Live to sign up.  It is the same principal as easyfundraising but they may have better offers or additional retailers.

You can also raise funds for Ravelrig by purchasing cards through The Greetings Card Co.  They have a huge selection of cards for all occasions and you can even get them personalised with a handwritten message inside.  They give you the opportunity to donate to the charity of your choice and Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled is listed as one of their charities.  We receive 25% from each sale, so send someone some love in the post.

Earn money for Ravelrig with your utilities

You can earn £30-£50 for Ravelrig by swapping utilities or insurance providers via or We received £60 in March when one supporter swapped home and car insurance (plus they saved money on their premiums!)

Earn money for Ravelrig when you spring clean

You can donate any unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags and belts right here at Ravelrig as we have our very own ‘Rag Bag’ collection point just within our gates.  There is also a “Rag Bag” collection point at Riccarton Inn that proceeds come to Ravelrig too. Please remember that clothes must be in a bag and should be wearable and shoes need to be in pairs.

We also accept unwanted CDs and DVDs that we can then use to raise money for Ravelrig.  So if you are now streaming all your music and have no space or need for your old CDs or DVDs why not bring them along to the Office or Club Room.

Earn money for Ravelrig with your mobile phone…

You (and all your friends!) can donate easily by text:

Text  RRDA16 £amount (e.g. £5) to 70070

Small change adds up…

Why not save up your small change in one of our Ravelrig RDA cardboard collection boxes?  Collect one from our office or we can post one out to you.  When it’s full you donate the contents and start all over again!

Donate items for our eBay & Gumtree shops

Could you donate a piece of furniture you no longer need but is too good to give to the bin men?  We can take desks, chairs, tables  and sell them in our eBay shop for much needed funds for the stables. If you can deliver it to Ravelrig we can do the rest.
